bacterial vaginosis for years...
« on: May 17, 2013, 07:36:19 AM »
I have had bacterial vaginosis for years and no change of habits or medications have worked.
The doctors just don't know what to do.
This past year I have had five yeast infections including First ever! I was diagnosed with sjogrens just 2 months ago.
Has anyone had this type of issue? How did u / Dr address and fix it?

The first thing I would do is make sure that they have been checking your blood sugars as diabetes can cause a lot of vaginal infections.

The second thing I would do it to find an immunologist who will check all my blood cells to see if there is some reason that I am having infections/issues that don't respond to treatment. So often we can have immune issues that the docs don't know to check out. So many docs think that allergies, immune issues and autoimmune issues are not related, when, in fact, they can all be very related to each other.

Sometime a hematologist can help also. Immunologists are hard to find in many areas of the country so the blood specialists are a good back up. Good luck. irish

Yvette,

Could you perhaps have a candida overgrowth?  Have you seen a dr. that practices integrative medicine?  I was on an anti candida diet and anti fungals for a while after living in a house with mold.  Not sure if you are familiar with the diet, but basically all sugars are limited or removed from diet, fermented foods have to be remove also, and starches and some grains are not allowed.  You will need to consume high amounts of various probiotic strains, nystatin, lamisil, or natural anti fungals.
