plastic dishes
« on: December 13, 2012, 05:22:39 PM »
I feel kind of stupid, but I am in the process of replacing my old tupperware dishes and did a research about eco friendly replacements and found out that plastic is really not safe to microwave.  I have microwaved scratched up plastic bowls for as long as we have had a microwave and never realized that it could harm you.

Last night I went through what I have and threw out the ones that did not even have a number on the bottom.  I am buying glass storage bowls with my Christmas money.

I wonder what problems it causes helath wise.  Probably don't want to know.

I always use glass dishes in the microwave.

Along those same lines, I often wonder what harm we are doing to ourselves by using a microwave all the time?  Those "micro-waves" can't be good for us.  I always make sure to stand back from the microwave and not stand right in front of it.

I just wish they weren't so quick and convenient.   :(

I wonder if there are more occurrences of cancers since the microwave invention vs. pre-microwave convenience?
