So sorry another question- itchy palms and soles of feet
« on: June 16, 2014, 09:19:49 AM »
I am now having very itchy soles of my feet at night, having to put ice on them. My fingers were having bee sting like pains and now my whole palms are super itchy as well. Does this sound like a possible plaqunil side effect??

Hi Tracyrose  :)

As well as itching - is there any sign of little tiny blisters - like not even terribly visible - but there under the skin?

I get pompholyx eczema and it itches like hec. It confines itself to soles of feet and palms of hands.

Plaquenil can cause itching but as far as I know it is usually all over. We are all different however. Hope you find an answer!

Take care - Scottie  :)

I don't know if it is a side effect but I do know I get The ITCHY on the soles and palms and ears. I now have noticed it is a beginning of a flare or this is my fibromyalgia neuro.  It can be so painful and so grating, I scratch but it does not take care of it. I usually end up taking benedryl and zyrtec, even though it is neuro, but it helps me to sleep and not have the itchyness.  Look up fibromyalgia symptoms and it is one of them.  Have you been diagnosed with both?  I have.

Have you thought of trying capsaicin cream?  Perhaps it could also be dyshidrotic eczema.

Hi  :)

My doctor prescribed Betnovate ointment to use and also Hydromol a 3 in 1 all purpose emollient to use as a moisturiser but also to wash with.

I find the eczema is episodic. Sometimes it happensd evert six weeks and other times I get longer breaks between it.  First there is the blisters and the itching and then the blisters either 'pop' or dry up and I get a lot of peeling skin. Eventually it goes.

I hope yours goes quickly! Worth seeing a doc about it or possibly a dermatologist.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Thanks Scotttie- i have appt for next week and in the meantime bought some domdoro astringent powder to soak in, it seems to be helping a bit. I think I got it from having sweaty hands at the dentist, it triggered the rash. I will ask doc about the meds you mentioned. Gosh it feels like I just get one issue cleared up and its on to the next .

Hi again.  It's been a long time.
I have severe itching on palms and between fingers with dry peeling flaking skin and some blisters from scratching and open cracked areas.  Treated with antifungal cream but no results.  Usually use triamcinolone cream by rx.   The longest I went without this was maybe a year.  I coated my hands in Vasoline nightly before bed.
Sometimes allegra or other allergy med helps.  Using body oil after shower when skin is still wet in combination with lotion helps the all over itching somewhat.
Also itch behind ears and in the evening ankles and tops of fat itch like mosquito bites. Slight short itchy sting like bug bites.
