is this pleurisy?
« on: June 21, 2011, 09:09:38 AM »
Hi.  In the midst of a flare and have developed pain in the left side of my chest.  It really hurts at the bottom of my rib cage and around by my scapula.  Breathing is not terribly painful, but coughing is and I can't lay on that area-turning over hurts.  Just another question, and I am ever so thankful for your answers!

See a doctor ASAP. I have no idea what it is but with pain in that location it is best to get it checked out in urgent care.

I agree with the previous post. See a doc ASAP. I've had pleurisy, but did not experience the pain you describe.
I miss the good old days. Things were more like they used to be back then.

Saw my rheummy and it turned out to be probably muscle-connective tissue inflammation.  X-rays showed lungs clear and heart fine as well.  Lot's of connective tissue in this area and it is inflammed.  Possibly from coughing.  I have had pleurisy before and it was more like when I inhaled I felt lot's of tiny needle feelings.  Thank you for your input.

Tammy, just wondering if you have been diagnosed with Sjogren's?  Seems as if doctors called mine pleurisy until I got Sjogren's diagnosis and then it became Costochorditis.

Left side under rib cage has spleen... filter for inflammation.  Might this be part of your issues?

Seems like Sjogren's runs with more than one issue at a time.

Trust you soon feel better.  What rheumy tell you to do or take?  Joy
