Swelling on the balls of feet...

Well..Happy New Year ( a new beginning for all of us I hope)..Ive been getting a feeling that the ball of my feet (right under my toes) feels swollen..also what does everyone use for the itching on legs and on the scalp..sometimes it itches sooooo very bad and I get a rash on the bottoms of my discolored legs..I've even used dry scalp shampoo on my legs!!   Cricket

Sorry to hear you are suffering so much. I cam empathise with the pain in the balls of the feet  - my rheumie says mine is arthritis and bunions - even though I don't really look as though I have bunions.
Thankfully, I don't have the rash on the bottom of my legs, but they are whie from the knees down.

Guess someone more knowledgeable will come along soon.

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say they feel "swollen". I have the feeling in that same area of the foot that something is always there...like something is bunched up by the ball of my foot. At first I was always taking off my shoe thinking something was in there or my sock was bunched up....but nothing....is this the kind of feeling you are referring to? Its kind of hard to explain....lol!   

Anyway...if it is....my neuro has explained mine as part of my neuropathy...its also a numb feeling but no pain at this point so I don't take anything for it. 

Have you asked your doc about it? Do you have a neuro?

     Well for the swelling on the bottom of your feet. I have has two Mortons newromia taken out of my foot. and Had my big toe fused to my foot. so the bottom of my foot near my toes swell all the time. mainly worst at night. And for the itching. my scalp used to itch so bad all the time. I tried everything. Well I found the shampoo and conditioner. that really works been using this all the time now. Its called root awakening by John Frieda. for dry hair. you can use it all the time. I use a coupon for it. I get it at walmart or target or Giant. its about 5.99 a tube. but the coupon is buy one get one free. so I only pay 5.99 for both. you can find the coupon on line. and print it out.  It works for me. When I had the coupons I brought like three sets. its 8.45 fl oz. but you only had to use a little bit. I think it has helped other parts of my skin in the shower also.

Hi I am new to the site here but the mention of foot swelling in the ball of my feet got my interest I asked my gp who sent me to a foot specialist here in New Zealand he said that due to the wrong footware my instep had slipped and offered for me to renew my entire shoe collection and to go back to him and get insteps to go in my shoe. He knew I was diognosed with sojgrens. Please keep us posted, because some days I cant even bear tp wear footware

When I get out of bed in the morning and step on the floor it feels like the bottom of my feet are swollen. After I walk alittle it goes away.

I do have severe itching around my ankles and some rash. I try to cream daily but this is usually in the morning.
Don't know to many problems to keep track of.

Hi, I'm fairly new to all this, but I have had swelling on the soles of my feet and the feeling of walking on marbles.  I mentioned it to my rheumatologist and she nodded in a knowing way - and explained to her student that this was common.  With that and the other symptoms, she increased my prednisilone dose, and that has done the trick.  I'm now tapering off them again and so far so good. 
I would recommend it to your doc - wouldn't hurt to check it out.
I've also just had xrays of my hands and feet - should find out the results tomorrow when I see my rheumatologist again!

I get that everyday, it is a terrible feeling.  I take nuerotin for it and that really helps (600 mg. tablets).   It also is painful.  Hope that helps you.

Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't been on site for a while.  I still do get the swollen ball on the foot feeling..it could be much worse.  I went on a cruise in Feb. and had so much pain in my upper arm before I left that I went to my PCP.  This pain has plagued me for a very long time but was getting much worse.  I thought it was due to the Sjs but after two shots of cordisone in my shoulder it is so much better..infact  for 2 months I had almost no pain..guess we can't blame Sjs can we? (Praise the Lord!!)  Cricket D

Hi, Regarding the ball under the foot feeling - I took a small dose of prednisone four some months and when I stopped taking it I got this problem back.

I have recently had a flare up and my doctor put me back on the prednisone treatment and the first thing I noticed the very next morning was that I did not have the ball under the foot feeling!

My husband...who is NOT Sjs...has complained for a few years abut a feeling of a marble in the ball of his foot.  Can't see anything there.  Can't feel anything there.  During his physical last year mentioned it to his GP and was told it was 'neuropathy'.  Now I hear a great deal about his neuropathy,      yes, and roll my eyes.  He has no real pain with it but does influence how he walks.  No, he takes nothing for it.  He wouldn't even take an asprin!  LOL
