Hmmm, I would be interested in any info you have to offer.  I'm from Calif. and would love to find someone who knows more about SS.  If you find out more, please pass on any knowledge about Santa Barbara.

Thanks,
BusyMom

I made my appointment yesterday it is Feb 23rd.  I live about four to five hours away so they say the common stay is about 2 to 3 day stay because they will run a lot tests if needed and you will most of your tests results during your visit.  I have of the specialists you can think of.  The usual process is that you meet with an internist first and then he will refer you out tothe specialist you need to see. I did see on thier websit they do have Dr's that specialize in Sjogren's Syndrome.  Search on the web and you will find their homepage under Sansum Clinic.  90% of thier patient's are self referred as am I.  Patient needs to get copies of all thier medical records and bring them on your visit.  They have a very good rep in our area.  My pain Dr was pleased that I was going there and I have several family and friends that have had very good experinces.  I will let you know how my visit goes. Check thier website they even hae motel affiliated with the clinc and provides transportation to and from the clinic.

Hi Sleepy, that sounds like a great place to stay,

and I pray that the Doctors are as good as the surroundings!

If the Doctor is knowledgeable about SS, you will be in good hands!

It sounds as if it could be expensive tho',

so I hope you will gain whatever it will cost you..
Much good luck and keep us posted.  Dolly

Luckily they take my insurance!! I do have a HMO so I had to add them as my PCP. So my cost at the clinic will just be my co-pays plus motel accommadations

Hey Sleepy,
I grew up in SB and was seen at Sansum for my initial diagnosis and treatment until I was about 18.  Not only did I receive a diagnosis very quickly, but the doctors I saw were very good.  I never had any of them doubting my Sjogrens diagnosis.  Granted, my symptoms were very minor then but I was happy with the experience.  I saw Dr. Seagul (sp?) in rheumatology and he was great!
  Good Luck!
  Heather
