Living With Sjogren's / Re: hand tendons

Oh boy. I have it. First in my right hand and now in my left.

My right hand is so bad now that it is looking like a claw. I drop things constantly and can'topen doors as an example. Today I started getting terrible muscle spasms causing my hand to close up tight. Yeah!

Now that it has started in my left hand I'm going to my new family doctor to get some help.

Last specialist I saw told me the only treatment was to inject a special enzyme into the thick cord that develops on the palm. It's supposed to break down the cord. But he said it wasn't bad enough then. I think that's changed.

Linda,as always, you amaze me. I have never been told it was autoimmune. My vitamin D is good but I will ask my family doctor to check it annually.

I hope I didn't scare you bluegardenia. It has taken ten years to get to this point.  And I'm sure it's different from everyone.

Hi  :)

So sorry to hear about your husband's cancer. I heard about someone else with some renal cysts recently. Her doctor said they'd monitor them - but she hasn't heard how or when. sounds benign from what I've read but occasionally they can interrupt urine flow making UTIs more likely.

I will ask the GP about them this week as the UTI has returned. Not as bad as before but showing up as infection on the dip sticks. Phoned today but was too late. Will phone earlier tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply
Take care - Scottie  :)

Scottie,

My husband has had multiple CT scans as he is battling cancer.  He has a couple of benign renal cysts that show up on all his CT's.  The doctors aren't concerned about them at all. It's more like they mention them but no treatment and no concern shown about them.

I think they may be more common than we think.  I hope this helps.

Thank you Pudmott, and you're right, I too have had the eyelid twitch when I was especially tired or stressed.   However this time I'm not unusually tired or stressed, it's been happening over several days, and I have slight soreness around the eye and in the jaw.   Am wondering if it's related to the trigeminal nerve.   And I'm guessing Sjogrens can affect nerves all over the body.

I'll wait a few days and see if it goes away, if not I'll try to talk to my GP.   (Try being the operative word!   The NHS here being on its knees).

Eye lid twitching is usually a stress response. When I am super stressed and run down my left eyelid constantly twitches. If you google it, it will give you some info

Hi. In March I wrote in this forum about what I thought could be trigger finger. Right now my fingers are normal but I have in my right hand a lump in the middle of the palm under the ring finger. Sometimes I have pain in this lump. My doctor saw me and told me that at that moment there wasn't any important damage in the tissue.

I know that this is not the same problem as yours, but perhaps related to it in the sense that there is a certain involvement of the tendons or the sheath of tendons in these type of diseases.

I've had this for a few days, it gets set off when I use eye drops or if for some reason I close my eyes tightly.   It's irritating and embarrassing, though probably not as noticeable as it feels.  The affected eye is slightly watery.   Can this be a Sjogrens thing?

Hi  :)

I spent the weekend with a UTI feeling miserable. Phoned the GP on Monday morning - a bit later than I meant to. I thought I probably wouldn't get an appointment because the news here is full of people not being able to see their GPs. However - I got a same day appointment at 10:30 a.m. Now on a 3 day course of antibiotics called Nitrofurantoin. Thankfully - only 3 days worth as some potential side affects look horrific! Luckily I don't seem to be having any. They haven't cleared it quite yet though.

Problem started after a new BP med prescription. GP says that's totally unrelated unless I'm really weird. Now on Candesartan and Lercanidipine and BP still up a bit. Doubtless all meds mentioned are called something different in the US.

Got a call from the local hospital surgery Dept. today basically discharging me belatedly. A few months ago they removed a lipoma - or apparently partially removed it. It was an odd shape. They wanted to know if I wanted another op to remove the rest. I don't. Am no longer aware of any lump so I will leave well alone. They arranged a scan to see if they could see what was going on and thankfully it looked pretty clear apart from some renal cysts which apparently are not of concern.

Anyone know anything about renal cysts? I'd never heard of them before.

Take care - Scottie  :)
