Bye bye teeth
« on: July 25, 2018, 06:31:47 AM »
Hi  :)

Tomorrow I get my remaining teeth removed. I was at the dentist today to get impressions taken so they can add teeth to the denture I already have.

Obviously that meant leaving the denture at the dentist. I'll get it back tomorrow. For the rest of the day I am rocking the Nanny McPhee look.

I will be so relieved to finally be rid of them as I swear they have caused more pain than pretty well anything else.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Scottie - I will be thinking of you tomorrow as you go through the procedure to extract your remaining teeth.  I know you have wanted this for a while.

To put in the denture immediately after extraction helps to keep the swelling down.

I hope everything goes well for you.

Glad to hear they will be gone!!!! So many people shutter at the thought of getting teeth pulled. I am like you.....they caused me so much pain, infection, expense and time that life became so much better with them gone.

Just to let you know.....I can eat sweet corn on the cob even without denture adhesive. Life is good. Here is hoping you heal well and fast so you can enjoy some summer picnics. Irish

Thinking of you, Scottie.

It takes so much to get us to the place where the major procedure/surgery is scheduled.

Once the decision is actually made, the relief sets in even before the surgery.....

It's been a long difficult process, Scottie.

Keep us posted!

Good luck - hope it all goes smoothly and the swelling is minimal and healing is quick.

I've had 4 teeth pulled and replaced with implants - it's such a hard decision to make but once you make it you realize it was the right decision.

BTW, this may or may not help you - I had two molars removed on opposite sides. My DH has a balaclava hood. I found it worked amazingly well to hold ice packs on both sides of my face during the recovery. It was so comfortable because I didn't have to use my hand to hold the ice packs in place.

Scottie-
I really hope all goes well for you.  I had a bad experience when I finally had the last of mine pulled.  I still have problems to this day.  I had a very bad dentist and the dryness in my mouth is extreme which still affects things. I do wish you the very best, and hope this is a big help to you.

I just seen your post and I am hoping all went well for your teeth being extracted. I have never regretted getting all of mine extracted due to all the pain they caused me.

I had it done at 50 after countless extractions, failed root canals and hidden infections. I am so happy I did it, those infections and issues were causing me tons of pain and money! Good luck, wear your dentures, ICE, and elevate.

Hi  :)

Well - awhile ago since I posted that. Only just getting off liquids and mush, which I've been on since the 3rd July. Been up north at two nonagenarians birthday celebrations and couldn't even eat the cake! Things are a lot better now. My dentist gave me a prescription for antibiotics just in case I had problems when I was north. I'm so glad he did as one extraction site definitely got infected. Last day of the antibiotics and a gumboil developed at another site. thankfully it seems to be resolving itself.

Being able to eat ice cream and Scottish tablet without nerve pain has been amazing. cannot remember the last time that was possible - if ever!
Hopefully will have new dentures by Christmas. no toothache is going to be good!

Take care - Scottie   :D
