Permanent swollen parotid gland UPDATE
« on: September 11, 2015, 04:58:54 PM »
Hi all

I had a 2 hr appt on Wed where I saw 2 Drs (including my surgeon) & 2 nurses.

My surgeon informed me since diagnosis is "inconclusive" the gland will be removed & tested on Oct 6th.

A positive outcome is expected.
The worst case scenario is the need to sacrifice a nerve during the op.
I'll be staying in hospital over night for monitoring.

Can't wait to get the surgery over with & a diagnosis hopefully!

After recovery I'd like holidays from work.  See how things go.

Thinking of all you fellow sjoggies dealing with our "gifts".

Regards

Good luck with the removal!  It sounds painful so I hope you get good meds!

Thank you for your best wishes.

I'm a whimp when it comes to pain & don't like using pain killers unless I need to  :(

I guess the risk of lymphoma is too high to leave the swollen parotid gland there & monitor it.

Hope they find a correct diagnosis of the removed gland.

I'll let you know how I go with the op.

Thank you all for your thoughts & wishes.

I'll let you know how I go not drinking for 2 hrs before the op, mmm

Nurse says I can wet my lips, not chew gum.

Any suggestions are welcome   :)
