Sinus/Sore Throat Issues
« on: November 30, 2009, 11:23:25 AM »
I was in Texas over the holidays for 10 days. Needless to say, I developed the sinus/sore throat/allergy crud. I know I don't have an infection. This is the first time I've had a sore throat/sinus drainage since developing the intense dryness. My nose is usually sore from dryness, but it's alot worse with the drainage and blowing of the nose. My throat is the same way. I would normally take a sinus/cold medicine, but I am afraid, since it might make the dryness even worse. Any advice?

Hi Wynter

Sorry to hear that you are feeling so rough. I'm afraid I don't know what effect a sinus or cold medicine would have on you. I know I suffer from post nasal drip and for that I use Nasonex spray every night. My nose is pretty dry but it's better than the yucky taste I get at the back of my mouth if I don't use the spray.

I hope you feel better soon.

Take care - Scottie  :)

I know how challenging this may is. I was hit with something similar last night. Normally before Sjs I would take C, Garlic, an do a lymphatic massage of my neck and upper body. I used Reiki for an hour to clean it out. I was too tired to do the massage.

I tried the sinus pills before I knew I had SJS.  I had sinus trouble, headaches etc., and it made it worse.  The sinus stuff just dries it out more.

If you have an infection, the sinus sprays/rinses might help get rid of it.  Texas is a lot drier than most places, desert and all, which probably made it worse.

Hope you feel better soon.   :)

I've had a very sore throat at night for the past couple of weeks. I live in BC Canada and we had rain nonstop so no problems with low humidity here. I didn't have this problem in the summer months.

Hi Wynter,

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well, and I sure hope that you get better soon!

I've had sinus issues since I can remember, and I sure feel for you!  I don't take much as I'm on so many meds, that the few things I can take, don't do much anyway, so I don't bother much (dang, the OTC varieties are so expensive too!).

Have you spoken to your doctor about it?  If you have, what did he say about it?

Hang in there and take care, okay?

I am currently on antibotics fighting a sinus infection- I used saline rinses for the nasal junk- helps alot with drainage and regular musinex- nothe kind with "D" in it though. that has worked for me- even beofre I got on the antibiotics.
