Anyone else have acne still? I'm 33, and have had it on my upper back/shoulders since I was a teen. Mind you it isn't severe but more just annoying. Once again, I'm thinking autoimmune disease.

Hi Ericisbacchus,

No, I don't have acne to really speak of (had it light during adolescence, and occasionally now a days), but I do have rosacea, and that gets awful if I'm out in the sun to long.

Have you seen a dermatologist about it?  I know that I need to see one about the rosacea, and a few other things, ugh.

Hang in there -

Hi eric,

I'm (almost) 41 and I still get cystic acne.  Mine is from stress.  I had mild acne as a teenager, but cystic acne when I was in my early 20s.  I took Accutane twice, which if I could go back, I'd never take it.

Have you ever seen the tins of Bag Balm in the stores?  It would be in the area of the pet items.  It's in a green metal tin...It's great stuff for acne as it's antiseptic.  I put it on when I get a breakout and it goes away quickly...

You can always try a dermatologist, but be wary of any drug that dries you out...Probably not a good thing to take.

I have horrible Prednisone acne.  I had nearly perfect skin before I was started on Prednisone.  I really need to see a dermatologist about it.  Take care!

I had cystic acne when I was in my twenties.
When nothing helped I was treated with antibiotics, strong vitamin A and finally Roaccutane.

Do you think it goes hand in hand with Sj?grens? I also had fevers for weeks and noone understood why...

I've always had really deep, large, painful bumps/boils that flare up about a cm under the corners of my lips, usually at times when everything seemed to be flaring too. I've got horrible purple scarring in these areas as a result, and they've carried on into my 40s. They always come in the same place, am wondering if there are particular sebaceous glands there that keep flaring up.

My skin was actually pretty clear until I was put on prednisone.  Now I always have pimples popping up, especially around my mouth and chin.  I think the clogged pores bother me more than the pimple.  My skin feels so rough, I hate it.

It may not be acne on your back and shoulders, but another stange autoimmune unexplainable.  I'm speaking from experience and yes I have seen a dermatologist and I have had a biopsy and tried every med know to man, but nothing works.

This is definitely something you should see a dermatologist about.

My rheumy gave me a prescription for Metronidazole Topical Cream 0.75% to use after I clean my face with Dove soap.  I use this whenever I have an outbreak of Rosecea.

I have found lately that if I use the Neutrogena face wash, it works better than the Dove.
