I saw rheumatologist and he is happy with my progress.  Since initial flare up last year things have slowly returned to "normal".  Just slight eye and mouth dryness but hardly noticeable anymore.  No fatigue, no other problems.  He says my blood test is showing up that something is "lurking" but doesnt want to see me for a year unless I need him.  Also, the nerve conduction tests on my hands and the mri of my brain came back normal.

Looks like I am gonna be ok for a while (fingers crossed).  Not taking any medication at the moment either which is good news.

Sorry to be the bearer of good news when so many people have bad news.

Hi fluffy. I'm so glad that you are doing well at this point. My question is, when your initial flare began a year ago, what medications did your rheumatologist have you on and did you take it faithfully? Is there anything else that you think helped you along the way to feeling better?
 Thanks for sharing.  Season

The answer to your question is that the rheumatologist gave me absolutely nothing!! I took painkillers of paracetamol and ibroprofen when I was really bad at the start, then stronger anti inflammatories for a bit.  Stopped taking them when the aching/pain subsided further.  Took amitriptylene for nerve pain when that arose, but again I stopped taking it again after a few months...

I did nothing I dont think to get over the flare.. it lasted about 8 months in total.. took a day at a time... didnt have appetite and lost two stone... didnt have energy so rested a lot...

Now I go to the gym and swim four times a week.  Am feeling really well.   I do get occasional pain around my saliva glands/jaw area but not enough and frequent enough to do anything about it.  Random pains in various parts of my body (once a day maybe) are not enough to interfere with my life.

The only thing I still use are eye drops and biotene.  I know it can come back again any day so I am making the most of every good day I have.

I hope that has helped you x
