Some Days Look Better Upside-Down !

« on: November 17, 2009, 07:41:56 PM »

I got my H1N1 vaccine today around 2:45! I had coworkers and their families calling at work to let us know how the lines were...it wasn't bad at all.....and when I got the go ahead that the lines were down...I walked right in and received my vaccine....5 minutes or less! Great!

So its been about 7 hours since I received the vaccine....my arm is still attached, no pain, and all is well!!! Grin

Over 24 hours have passed and I'm doing fine! I have no pain by the injection site like I did with the regular flu shot...that was hard and hurt for days afterward....this is not bothering me at all...I cant even find the exact place they gave the shot.

Sooooo...I'm doing good....arm is still attached......6:15pm...and all is well!!!

Got my H1N1 about two weeks ago and I felt absolutely fine!  No arm pain and no after effects.  My husband came down with some flu, not sure if it was "swine" but had all the characteristics: fever, chills, cough, congestion, muscle aches.  He came home from work and he NEVER comes home from work.  He's a rock!  Anyway, guess who never got sick?Huh!!!  Yep, me!  I always catch stuff with my lowered immune system and I think the shot worked!

Hi Robin,

I have not heard that...but I'm no expert! I had to fill out a form to show that I was within the CDC guidlines to get the vacinne and they never asked about medications that are taken.

Your best bet would be to ask your doctor who prescribed the prednisone for you or to call the Local County Health Department who usually administers the vaccines.

Check back and let us know what you found out.

Planning on getting mine tomorrow if lines aren't too long. They're having a clinic between2-6 but my kids hop off the bus at 3:30 and it's conference night for all.How were the lines for all of you?Of course I could always try another day but sure would like to get it done cuz we seem like we're in a lull of sicknesses in our area. Probably til Thanksgiving hits and everything spreads around again.Glad to hear no arms falling off or side effects.Hee hee.--Net

Lynnmarie - glad to hear that all is well and you feel no ill effects from getting your shot.  (This is where I would insert a cute icon jumping up and down yelling YAHOO . . . but . . . . I don't have any, so just use your imagination!!)  Grin  LOL

And nope, hadn't heard about going off of Pred before getting the flu shot either, interesting.

Hi Robin,

I am on prednisone (and Cellcept) and both my rheumy and my GP said I should get the H1N1 vaccine if I can because I am immunosuppressed.  Now for me it is just matter of getting into a clinic.

My state has narrowed the guidelines set by the CDC and just this week they are starting to allow people over age 24 with underlying medical conditions to register for clinics.  I pre-registered yesterday for a clinic on Saturday, but I haven't gotten a confirmation yet.  Fingers crossed!  Especially since my nephew is at home with flu symptoms and a fever of 104.

Yea! Got my H1N1 shot today. Was gonna wait in line at a clinic from 2-6 but took a chance  and called my Doc (general) and they had some shots and he said I could get one now. Guess they only had 4 so I sure lucked out.Nice to know it's done and kids just need a booster in 2 wks if it comes in. So my advice is to call your Dr. cuz if they have any it is available to our group now.Good luck all.--Net
