Title: One Or More Good Things About Today?
Post by: susanep on March 23, 2015, 02:44:24 PM
I thought I would start this thread to be able to post even one good thing about today, and each day that I am able to. Some days if it is not wrote here, it is due to life (appointments etc).

If this is not a good idea or allowed then moderators please let me know. All are welcome if you want to add for your day or just read along.

I will start today with it's such a pretty sunny day with warm temperatures. Me and my hubby both have the crud, but have antibiotics working on it so that makes for a good day also.

Thanks for reading this,
susanep :)

After a sleepless night due to sheer excitement,  I had our contractor start work on several small projects in the house today.  He finished the bulk of the tile in the bathroom, and it is beautiful.  It's like being on one of those home reno shows!  Minus the sledge hammer.

Susan, nice thread.  Thanks for your invitation to join in.

I have been feeling great for several days now, so on Saturday I decided to tackle my living room.  I realized this was a risk since I'm not really sure what brings on my flares, and I knew this would be a labour intensive activity.  I was compelling to do it though, because through my now healthy eyes, my living room looked old, tired, and quite frankly abandoned and dirty  :-[

I spent about 3 hours shuffling items (books, ornaments, etc.), moving furniture, vacuuming, dusting, and weeding out clutter.  My poor husband watched me cautiously - I'm sure he was wondering about my sanity.  He lent a hand when it appeared to be safe, but otherwise generally stayed out of my way ;)  I worked, rested, worked, rested - and VOILA!!!!  My daughter came over on Sunday and she was shocked by the change and loved the new layout.  My husband isn't sure he's happy with it, but I've told him he needs to live with it until he comes up with a better idea and then helps me change it around again.

More importantly - although I was a bit sore and stiff yesterday - it was a completely 'normal' sore and stiff.  It did not feel at all like I feel when I'm in a flare!  This thrills me to no end, because in my mind it confirms:

1.  It's nothing I'm 'doing' that causes my flares - there is something else going on
2.  I don't have to live in fear of causing a flare - I can live a normal life when I'm feeling well
3.  Normal soreness/stiffness IS different from what I feel when I am in a flare.

This was really important information for me to have, because every now and then, I wonder about these things...

I'm so happy for you Head2toe.  I have the same experiences at times and it never causes a flare for me either.  When my flares come I rest, and rest.  It's the best way to get thru it as far as I'm concerned.  Keep eating well (I need to do this more) and respect your health.
When you feel well it's time to get things done.  Good luck to you.

I guess it is technically Tuesday, but I am up late. I just have to say that since my endocrinologist started me on a low dose of prednisone everyday that I have felt strength in my arms etc. that I have not felt in I don't know when. That has made for a good day, and I still have the crud. lol.. But like some of you said, it is different than a flare type sick.

If this keeps up then I will be moving furniture around like some of you girls.  ;)

One time Ii heard a talk from on Psychologist on getting to sleep at night.  He suggested we try to think of three "blessings" that had occurred during the day and then concentrate on specifically how each had helped.  It is a technique that has worked for me.

As for today, it is only 7:21 in the morning so not much time for anything good or bad.  However, I did have drive my husband to airport through the fog and Orlando's horrible traffic - and the good news - I survived.  Now, on with my day.

I think it is wonderful thinking positive, what a great way to start the day!!  I have been on my own since Saturday when my husband had to go to Florida for work.  He has called
me every day, and he is coming home TOMORROW!!  Yes, I am excited about that, so is KC cat!  He keeps looking for Thomas, that makes me sad that he is missing him.  I have gotten
a lot of cards made for our church auction, so I call that good, because they need the card packs by April 18!  Even though I am sad that it is not sunny, we need the rain, so I am
glad that it is raining today, and hoping that it will green things up outside!  So, I think that is 3 good things, my husband coming home tomorrow, my cards getting done for the
auction, and the rain that is needed for the ground.
Wishing all of you a GREAT DAY!! :)

Today is another good day because we got a little more wet snow. It has been so dry in MN and all the snow had melted leaving a brown dry landscape that has the farmers worried. Having these late, wet snows are so good for the soils as they can soak in. We will take a lot more of this. Irish

I am reading all these good things. They make me smile. Any chance for a smile is a good thing.  ;)

I just put on a big load of clothes to wash, and sewed a couple of quilt blocks together to make my dad a lap quilt. My husband has gone to pick up some more meds for us. I count this as a good day. Doggies outside playing, and having fun with a breeze in the air.

I love reading all the things you precious folks have to tell us all about that makes it a good day. :)

I'd like to add something good about today: It's officially 'Purple Day', which is a global epilepsy awareness day. Our city hall and fountains were all purple, which I'm told was a wonderful sight.

I work for an epilepsy charity in the UK, and we all wore purple today. It felt really good to dress up, rather than the usual staid trouser ensemble that most of us  normally wear.

I had a GREAT day!  In fact - TWO great days!  I attended an Information and Privacy conference with 249 other people who are as passionate about information management as I am!  The nerves in my lower body have been screaming their displeasure and my vertigo/balance issues have increased, but not even those little miseries can dampen my spirits.  In my heart I am doing a Happy Dance because I feel so energized from all that nerdy bonding ;D

I finally tackled the 6" pile of junk on my desk here at home. Mostly stuff that needed to be shredded. I wonder if office work can cause a flare? LOL..... I keep swearing that every day when I get home, I am going to go through the mail and do something with it. But, I procrastinate-:) Once you do it, you realize that it's not so bad and you wonder why you've put it off for so long. I'll have to remember this feeling.

After a week long of rain and dreary weather, we've had two days of sun in a row. It's a real blessing and I get Good Friday off! Yay!!!!

Good for you Head2toe! Doesn't that feel great????

Yesterday it was very warm and sunny, and our pup was sunbathing on the patio.  Actually he was sitting on my plants, but that's okay.  That was softer.

Today it is snowing hard so we are getting badly needed moisture.  I didn't want to work in the yard until May anyway.   ;)

Carebear that is so sweet about your little pup. You sound like an animal lover after my own heart.  :)

I have to add another one for today. I just looked outside my living room window, and there was a beautiful redbird sitting on a little bench on my front porch close to my window. Whenever I see a redbird it is a good day.

Many years ago I read a book about a lady who had been in severe depression, and at the time I had been too. She knew things were taking a turn for good when she was able to see the beautiful colors of the redbird and smile. From then on she said whenever she seen a redbird it was to be a good day.

How lucky you are to see that beautiful redbird, Susan.  Yes, I too love animals.   My little Andy is not impressed with all this fresh snow though.  It takes away from his sunbathing time.

It's still early in the morning so I'll use yesterday's good news.
I have a 28 hour a week job where the pay is pretty dismal. I've been stressing over $$.
Yesterday, I stopped to visit some friends in the town north of me, and I wound up with another part time job, that, once I learn it, I will be able to do at home, in my shorts & t shirt, for extra money. Yay!

I don't want to be critical, but I think this strand jinx me. My days started to get really bad. Shortly after it started, we found a leak - no that is wrong - we found water coming up through our wood floors.  I skip the details, but the plumber came and said the plumber that installed our new toilet 5 years ago used cheap parts and that was what was leaking - could have been leaking for a long time.  We have "floating" wood floors so no idea of how much water.  So out came the towels and the fans and of course hubby had to leave on a business trip....And for several days I kept putting out towels and mopping and waiting for the floors to dry.  Then Sunday -less water - yippee.  I get up Monday morning and lots more water...turn off the water, call plumber.  He finally comes in the afternoon, but can't find the leak - says he'll be by the next day (yesterday) - so live without running water.  Yesterday - still leaking with supposedly no water.  Turns out, not only do I have a leak but the valve on the water heater is also leaking.  Plumber finally comes and says he has found the leak, but will need to re- pipe part of the house.  Will be back, but meantime I will have water in kitchen and 2 bathrooms.

So what is good about today - NO LEAK!!!!  My closet which I have emptied out is actually drying.  The bathroom is drying!!!!!  I am now washing, drying and putting away all the towels... The plumber will be here this afternoon to do the partial re-piping but I can now get back to dealing with my chronic bladder infection, irregular heart beat, nausea - in other words my normal life.  I am happy. Oh yes, we do have holes in the wall which will need to be plaster - but no water on the floors and in our big closet.

Post by: susanep on April 02, 2015, 08:34:37 PM
Katie1111 I am glad there is NO LEAK now. Bless your heart. I guess that is what got me to starting this thread. I so easily can find plenty wrong in my day just by stating how I feel. lol... So I thought it might help me if I could find even one small, tiny, teensy, weensy thing that is good.  :) I hope it all keeps improving with the work you have to have done now.

That sounds wonderful Carebear!

Happy Easter!

I may have missed yesterday, but it was a good day due to my hubby going taking care of some errand that I wasn't up too.  :)

It is a great day for me today, because here I am up late and was going to sew up a pretty skirt to wear later today when going to see my dad, but didn't get it finished.
So I decided to go through some other clothes, and found this beautiful camel color skirt with a soft feel to it sort of a A-line shape. I have a pretty top and sheer pretty jacket to go with it. That made for a great day today, and for me knowing that my Jesus Is Risen.  :)

I will also be saying a special prayer for all on here for many blessings your way, and that will make it a special day. :)

Happy Easter Susanep and everyone else who celebrates.

I've had a wonderful day today. Mass this morning with lots of communal singing and then we brought home our wonderful new (adopted) Yorkshire Terrier from the rescue. She is a dear little thing: three years old, blonde and house trained. What more could we ask for.

This little girl is called Tia and is to be my husband's companion while I am at work. It feels really good to have a pet in the house again.

We had one little storm today, and then most of the day a slow rain which was good for everything. Tonight came one of those darts out of no where, and it's a good day because I am here at home, and still going. You all know how those sweet little unexpected darts can come at us out of no where when we least expect it.

That is one of my weaknesses is fighting things like that, but me and hubby got through it.

Good Day!!!! :)

Susanep.we can't believe our luck with the little Yorkie, Tia. She has won the heats of all my grandchildren, and our elderly neighbours. We have no problem finding someone to look after her, should we need it.

Your little one sounds gorgeous too.I'd never considered this breed before seeing them at the rescue, but I'm so pleased we were given the opportunity to adopt her.

The sun has been shining in West Yorkshire today, and I've had a 15 minute walk with Tia. That's 15 minutes more than most days, so already we are reaping the benefits.

Hope the spring continues to be so kind.

Pisces so glad you are out of the hospital. What a good day indeed. Winter over for most of us too, and that is wonderful. Today I was looking at more tiny buds out on trees, but we are a bit slower than warmer counties close to us.

Katy oh my goodness your little Tia sounds so precious. That is a pretty name. I also had never had a Yorkie until little Bonnie. I have had poodles, Chihuahuas, and other medium size dogs. Oh how precious they are.

I had a wonderful day due to mastering a new method in piecing fabric. I had a book my husband bought me to learn it a few years now, but couldn't get it. Last night I started watching some videos on it online, and one video really made it click for me, and when I finished it correctly I was elated. lol.... It now is so much fun for me to do it. Kind of gives me another thing to do that helps.

Oh, oh, that is not all. Talk about a good day, my niece who lives next to us used my dad's riding lawn mower and mowed her lawn, dad's lawn, and my lawn. Oh was I happy, and the yard looks so pretty now. We had sticks and small winter blown limbs around the yard, and she had her girls go around and pick all them up for me and her. I told the sweet girls that they have a reward coming to each. That made their day. lol...

Hugs Everyone,

Wow Susan, you have been busy. And bless those girls and their mum for helping you.

The sun has been shining here in West Yorkshire. In fact we have had almost a week of temperatures in the mid 60's. Unfortunately, it has brought some pollution with it, but we have enjoyed the mild weather all the same.

We moved into this house last summer and are not sure yet what plants are in the garden. It's going to be a pleasant surprise for us finding out.We do need to do some weeding though - hopefully this weekend.

BTW Tia loves the garden and runs around it like a creature  possessed. I guess that means she is getting used to us.

Hugs

I am glad Tia likes getting out in the garden. Little Bonnie acts that way too. She gets all excited.

I did have a good day today, um (Friday). We were gone until around 8 p.m. our time tonight. We got to go see dad at the nursing home. He was feeling weak, and his back was hurting, but he still wanted to go out with us. We took him to get something to eat, and then a ice cream cone for dessert. He was too weak to get out and walk anywhere, but we all had a great time just being out together.

He has another man in the room with him, who has been very depressed. Well, my dear husband sit in a chair in the middle of both of them and told them his early hospital stories and had them both laughing. I said, Gene? He said, "well they are all true stories." silly! But he blessed dad and the other man.

It was such a good day.  :)

It's lovely to follow this thread. You are inspiring me to find something good about each day too.

Today I had the energy to visit my next door neighbour after work; something that is unusual for me as generally I don't have the energy to do anything after supper. My neighbour was pleased to see me and Tia too.

Oh Kathy that is so sweet of you to say.

Scottie that is great news that you are discharged, and it helped.

I am up writing late, because the nursing home called to let me know my dad had fell, but he is fine. They said he is proud and won't ask for help. I told them he has always been that way.

You folks made a good day for me, and also that dad is ok.

Yesterday I had a good day, because I got a few things taken care of outside the home, and a bit in the home. It wasn't easy for me, but I did it.  :)

I weighed this morning since beginning my diet on April 2 and I have lost 8 pounds so I was really happy about that. I went to see my dad at the nursing home today, and he was not doing well, and the man in the room with him was saying he didn't want to live another year, so I started with the other man. I ask him if he would tell me one good thing about today. He said, nothing. I said you mean me coming to see you both today is not good? He said well oh yes. lol... I said great. Then a girl come in to take him for a shower, and I ask him if she was nice. He said, yes. I said see that is another good thing about today, and I had him break out in a big smile. That made my day.  :)

Helping someone else, helped me to have a better day. I got to tell my dad in spite of his not good day how much I love him.

I took my great niece with me, and she loved it. I bought her a pair of flip flops I had heard her talk about. That made a good day too.

Hugs,
susanep :)

Yesterday we walked little Andy along our beautiful river valley for about an hour.  It was cool and windy, but when the sun poked out from behind the clouds it was glorious.

Andy is having some serious health issues right now but I was able to calm down and live in the moment.  You sometimes can't change how things are, but you can change how you deal with them, right?

Susan, that is great!  Keep up the awesome work.  Are you feeling any improvement with all that weight loss?

Yesterday was the first real warmish day for us, and it was glorious poking away in the garden.  I am anxious to see the plants poke through the soil soon.

Thank you Carebear. Whenever I am able to lose weight it helps me when going up stairs etc. The fatigue we all have doesn't change, but when I do move it is easier. Then there is that nice thing of feeling better in my clothes.  :)

I can still have a not great day with eating better, but I am trying to look at it as a lifestyle change, but I still count calories so on the good days I know what's going on. Since I am not active as I once was counting the calories helps me to still lose, and I don't go too low.

I am glad you got to poke around in the garden. That is one of my favorite things to do. I seen my Day lilies coming up good.

I have been in the rest mode today, and hearing about you in the garden makes for a good day for me too.  :)

So the furniture is clean and shiny, and my face is lemony fresh.  Uck.  I need a shower.  :P

We've had the sunshine again today. And it was my day off work, so I felt blessed. I dried some washing outside, sat and watched Tia running around on the grass, and did some weeding.

I've had a good day, and hope you guys have too.

Carebear uh-oh!  :)

Kathy it sounds like you and Carebear both got things accomplished today.  :)  Clothes always smell so nice hung outside.

All I did today was go for a ct scan scheduled, and I already have the results which show no problems. So that is a good day.

Good news about the scan Susan. I have to take mum for a gastroscopy on Sunday and then go for one myself next Wednesday. I hope it goes well for mum of course, but I hope it doesn't hurt her, or I won't be going for mine!

We have the sunshine again today  :)

I am behind here again.

Yesterday was a good day, because my husband got a med for me I ran out of and so I was able to sleep afterward, and sleep I did.  :)

Today was/is a good day, because my nephew and wife mowed our yard for us again, and that is such a blessing. I am getting ready to finish up sewing on a small project to get in the mail to a swap partner tomorrow. I have fun doing this, and so does the others.

Have a great week everyone!  :)

Susan, you are lucky your husband got groceries today.  Unfortunately my spouse will leave with a list of ten items, get home with thirty items, and none are what I needed.   :(   So I have to be the grocery shopper, as long as I have someone driving me.

Thank you for the wish that I feel better.  A bit better, thankfully.

Today I had my granddaughters here for a few hours.  We had a tea party, played charades, and watched the movie "Babe".   It was a good day.

Today I feel good. I had the endoscopy and don't have any ulcers or nasties. I do have a hiatus hernia, but understand that can be managed. Mum's endoscopy was clear.

The sun is shining here in West Yorkshire, and life is good.

Thanks Susan.

It is a public holiday here today, so we took the opportunity to go to an out of town store for some jeans for DH. We were out around 2 hours and I still managed to do some weeding in the garden when we got back. It was only 10 minutes, but it all helps.

Another good day.

The storm yesterday resulted in about seven inches of snow.  The very wet, very heavy kind. I was able to do some shoveling!

I was a bit silly because I fertilized the lawn while it snowed and blew like the dickens.  I reasoned that I could easily see the fertilizer on the snow, and then how green the lawn would be once the snow melted!

It is a beautiful sunny morning here.  And by the weekend, the snow will be a distant memory.

This may not sound like a good thing, but it really is a relatively happy outcome.

My little dog Andy had oral surgery yesterday.  Five abscessed teeth, one molar with a hole right through it and a mass attached to another tooth.  So seven teeth an a big old growth were removed.

He went in for a biopsy on two small sores but they weren't sores.  No one knew how bad he was, not even me.  He had his teeth cleaned six months ago and I brush his teeth every day.  Sound familiar?   I guess he picked the right mom.

So the good thing is that he doesn't have cancer like we originally thought.  And he is doing better than I would do after all that surgery.  He is 14 pounds of brave cuteness.

I am so happy for both of you.

I am up early, and trying to stay up to get myself a bit straightened out on my day and night hours. I did go to bed early last night so that is why I am up early. I am hoping to see my dad today.

First of all, it's FRIDAY.

Second, it's sunny, dry and 80 degrees today. My flowers are soooooo happy. Morning glories began blooming, which means summer is officially here.

It's Teacher Appreciation Week, which means a nice cookie or something in our mailboxes every day. I don't need the sugar at all, but still  :D

State tests are over for the year.

I have been feeling fat, stiff and miserable this week, but I broke out last summer's capri pants this morning and they still fit exactly they way they should.

So, life is good.

It's great to see how people are still contributing to this thread - and to hear about the weather in the different regions.

We have had monsoon-like rain for the last couple of days, and some sneaky late frosts. As a result my beautiful primulas have been frost burnt, which makes me sad BUT most other things in the garden have survived, so that makes me very happy. We are hoping for some warmer, sunnier weather from tomorrow.

Now a question for you fur baby parents: If they are long haired, have you been tempted to trim their nether regions? We are the new parents for a 3 year old Yorkie who has a tendency to a grubby rear end (and beard), should we trim her in those areas, or just take her to a professional to give her an overall trim? I'm a bit worried about the latter option as it's still not very warm here.

Any thoughts?

Saying goodbye to some seniors I had several years in a row. They are so awesome. I often wonder how much longer I can do the classroom gig, but other times the idea of not being around all of this youth and energy is unbearable.

Meow that is something isn't it with those young people graduating that you had all those years?

I had some like that, and I loved working with all ages. I miss it so much, but had no other choice. You still will always have your memories, and can still see those young people who depended on you.

I taught special education, and have this one family with 6 kids. I had them all but one. They had a set of identical twin boys that still call me today, and they are in high school. I had to explain to them that it isn't appropriate for them to be calling at 10:00 p.m. at night unless it's an emergency.  :)

Carebear those lilacs sound so nice. I would like to plant some. My mother use to have some peonies that were big pink flowers, and such a nice aroma.
I am like you, and don't particularly like hot weather.

Today it is sunny, and warm but not too warm with a warm breeze. I went out on my front porch, and got my flowers planted. I bought some double marigolds and some little flower plants that have little fringes on the edges. They are purple and white, but I don't know the name of them. I got all of these at a fruit and vegetable market, and he has a green house, but these didn't have a name on them. I had such fun getting my hands in the soil.

My dad got lots of hugs from me. My dear husband who has to wear support hose for his legs due to diabetic ulcers showed my dad his stockings trying to convince him to wear some. He doesn't want to wear them.

We also got to see a great niece of ours that we have been around since she was born, and she is getting ready to turn 16 now. We hadn't seen her to be able to talk to her in a while. It was a good day!

Hi Everyone,

I went out on my front porch to check on my flowers doing some dead heading of some that had bloomed and now dried. I then proceeded to check on a few yellow squash seeds that I had planted last week in an ice tray to see if they would sprout.

Oh wow! They were up about and inch all stout looking. I was so excited to see this. I took them in to show my husband, and he was excited about that too.

See most people would already have these planted a long time ago, but I just had to do it since I seen that pack of seeds in the drawer.

Now I have to figure out where I am going to plant them, and they grow out into vines. Yikes!  :) :)  This made my day.

Some time at the moment home alone.
Quiet
Phone is not ringing.
No noise.
Peaceful.

We have had rain too.
Everything is so lush and verdant green.

Stopped at a garden nursery.. they had a flat of 'seedlings" pink vinca for $8 or 9.  Grabbed a flat there were only a few ..

There were some light coral begonia ones. Talked to a nice man and pointed them out. It was the only one and they grow in shade.. so I said if you are not going to take them .. Let me know.
After he bought them .. he cut the flat at his car and brought them to me..  I love gardeners.
I gave him some of the pink vinca..

Got home and then realized these flats hold 200-288 seedlings.
The root systems are sound. So made a trough in soil and just did some that way diagonally .. a bit a a time.

Kudos on the squash.. Plant some flowers around them in a pot..lol

quietdynamics I like your idea about planting some flowers around the squash.  :)

Yesterday, on Father's Day we had the best time with dad, my two sisters, and their families. So dad had all his kids there except my brother who drives on the road across the U.S., but due to knowing he couldn't make it that day he went to see dad earlier in the week.

Dad had his children, two of his seven grandchildren, and two of his great grand daughters. He has six great grand daughters all together.

We all brought food, including a pretty Father's Day Cake, cool whip and strawberries, drinks and plenty of ice.

We went to the gazebo outside at the nursing home, and dad was so proud showing us the pretty above ground gardening he had done. He had planted some tomato plants, and some marigolds. We had told them how much he always loved planting a garden his whole life, and his love for flowers. So now they have him do that when they can. He was smiling showing them too us.

He keeps his walker in front of him to go anywhere, and it was so nice that in a basket on the front of his walker he had some small gardening tools they had got him to always have on hand if he wants to use them. They have been so good to him there, and that alone has motivated dad to want to go outside there almost everyday now to check in on his plants.

To repeat myself again, we had the best time with dad and each other. We all were blessed too that it was one of dad's good days so he wasn't feeling so weak as he is some days.

My youngest sister took some pictures there, and last night she sent us one of me and my husband next to dad there. A really good picture that I cherish.

It was a truly good day, and lifted my spirits.  :) :)

Had a breif storm yesterday.
Sky around 8:30 pm got brighter.. a surreal yellow behind the puffy cumulus clouds and the air felt 'silent'. Had put grandduaghter in bed for the night.. but, got her out to sit outside and experience the color and feeling ( she noticed the lightening bugs).

This morning temp is 75 degrees and humidty @ 60% with a breeze. Opened all the windows and have window fans going.. yeah. Feels so great.

Day before granddaughter tired of riding her bike and decided to hang on some some tree branches she could reach.
My mental light bulb went on.. a 'solution"!
Grabbed branch cutters.
With granddaughter hanging I could now reach where I wanted to cut branches. I can only do a few, but wanted to do the ones near sidewalk.

Granddaughter hanging on branch.. lowering it.
Me: cut branch
Granddaughter falls to ground holding onto branch.
Lots of laughs and giggles.

Hi  :)

I've been AWOL again. My daughter asked if there was any chance of us heading to her place - 3 hours south of us - to babysit the 19month old as she had been kept in the hospital after a routine appointment. She wasn't actually in labour but doc thought it was imminent, the baby seemed small and she has a horrible chesty cough.

Of course we went. Spent the evening with the baby's father. I thought it was odd he wasn't with my daughter but he was waiting for a phone call to say things were moving.

He got a call about midnight. 19 month old - who had gone to bed before we arrived, so did not know we were there - seemed totally unfazed when we got him up for breakfast and spent the day with him. Couldn't believe he behaved so well. We got a message to say that a grandaughter had been born at 4:45a.m. weighing in at 6lbs10oz. Mother and baby well. They got discharged and came home at about 6:30p.m.  19month old pleased to see parents - pointed at the baby who was wearing a furry brown suit and said"Bear". He then ignored her until she yelled. He went beserk and howled! Inconsolable. Its going to take him a while to learn he has to share his mother!

Anyway - it was lovely to see the baby so new. We met our grandson when he was a few weeks old. She hasn't got a name yet. Looking forward to meeting her with her eyes open. So far - she looks very like her brother.

Home now but it was good to be able to help.

Take care - Scottie  :)

WOW Scottie, what a whirlwind 24 hours or so! Congratulations on your granddaughter! So nice that you were able to be there, and meet her so soon. I'm sure your grandson will get used to her, he seems pretty accepting if he can go to sleep with Daddy and wake up with Grandparents, and not even seem surprised by it LOL

Glad to hear that you are "gramma" again and that all is well. The baby at 6# 10 oz isn't that small after all.

Glad that you got to get there and have a good time with the grandkids. You have been on the road a bit these last weeks,. Good for you. Irish

I don't know if I should be telling you all this.  ;). But sometimes a gal has to get a boost from anywhere she can.

So here it is.  I just polished off a giant bowl of ice cream, swimming in warm homemade chocolate sauce.   ;D

Oh yes!   Smiling with chocolate in the corners of my mouth.

He He!  I am still giggling to myself.   ;D.   During my walk with my little dog tonight we were chased down by a cat.  It was hilarious.  The cat was sitting on his front step when we walked by, and immediately he jumped down and ran after us.  Wow.  He was mad!  He followed us for about two blocks then sat on the sidewalk for another five minutes glaring until we were out of sight.

All the while I was laughing out loud...but kept an eye on that rascal.  Made my night!

Hi  :)

My daughter posted some really nice photos of her new baby and her brother on Facebook in an album called 2 under 2. (She has her hands full!) Thankfully the older one appears to be taking to his sister quite well as the photos were mostly of him giving her kisses. One at the end was titled "Dirty Baby" (but then he's run to get a nappy/diaper for her - so he's wanting to be helpful. He still thinks she should live in her basket most of the time.

I love that Facebook keeps me in touch!

Started back to school this week, and my students are AWESOME. There are 200 of them, but the potential is explosive. I only hope I can do justice to it.

Meow, you go back to school early - our kids are not due back until the first week in September.

I can't imagine having responsibility for 200 of them - you must be a saint!

I did some work in the yard tonight,  which is an amazing thing for me considering how my body has felt for the last year.  I am in such pain and so exhausted right now, yet I have a big smile on my face.  It feels good to work in the garden!

My siser from 6 hours away is visiting at the moment. I see her about twice a year when she comes to stay with mum. Today we went to a local market town and had a good rummage in the market and charity shops. We got some bargains and probably walked for more than an hour. That is a huge achievement for me.

The latest increase in dosage of Lyrica has pulled my SFN symptoms under proper control...my feet/legs feel almost normal (just a bit tingly/prickly some of the time) for the first time in I don't know how long, my hands/arms barely hurt now - and my new "Protex" gloves give fantastic padding & protection from the pressure/touches that were aggravating pain. My sleep quality has improved hugely so that I'm waking up naturally and actually feeling rested/with energy, and the ache in my shoulder and lower back muscles that I've had pretty much since I was 15 has faded away to nothing.

Between the suppression of hormonal changes so I don't have that causing pain every month, the anti-inflammatories fixing the tendon pain and fatigue (now starting Plaquenil to replace those) - and maybe those muscle aches(?), and the Lyrica then fixing sleep and SFN pain, I have felt fantastic for the last week and a half - for probably the first time in my adult life (got Glandular Fever at 15, had problems ever since).

That makes this day - and the last several - *very* good days!

It was not a good day.
Just too much to do which I really did not want be doing at all.
Well, things that are time sensitive.

Out I go.
Dash here. Dash there. Not making progress. Feeling close to tears.

Then on highway almost missed 'v' in road where I need to stay right and suddenly car died in left lane. Was able to get over to left shoulder.

Made call .. Gosh I had run out of GAS.. huh.. like once in my life decades ago.

Police car pulled behind me and very nice officer pushed my car .. physically.. a bit more off shoulder .. even though it had started to rain.
I felt so bad for him and told him so.
(I even offered him a new bag of Reeses Peanut Butter Oreos I had just bought.. yeah. He nicely declined.)
I thanked him for his help and he said "That is what we are here for".

Not so great day..
Blessed to meet such a nice person.

My own Knight in the Honda showed up with gas.. Kisses.

Now I have to find out how to contact the officers supervisor and write a thank you in the local paper.

I'm one of those weird optimistic pessimists. Sounds odd I know, but it's how I descibe it. Being Bipolar with a family history of suicide, I have to hunt the good of humor daily. Just the fact we woke up today is something. That we can feel aches and pains so we can appreciate the days it's not so bad. Its Fall, the air is crisp, the leaves are changing, time for warm snuggly clothes a hot cup of tea, coffee or cocoa a blanket, a good book or movie. My extended family can't get along and holidays tend to suck anymore, but I still love the feel of this time of year. I don't like the cold or what season changes do to my body, but fall is beautiful. Most of the coffee filter wreaths I'm making are a fall theme just because it's so much color.

Critter Mama, you post sounds almost poetic. Thank you. I love the fall too, although we call it autumn in the UK. Our leaves are beginning to turn, and there's a few on the ground, but I suspect we willkeep them until we get some high winds, and that will be the end of them.

At the moment we are having verypretty weather. We had a poor summer but recently the temperature has been around 60 degrees in the afternoons, even though the mornings have been very misty. I'm hoping it stays like this a while, as I really don't like the cold, and would love to be able to hibernate until spring.

Well. I came on board to complain, but thought I should stop at this thread first.

The swelling and pain in my ankle is not a stress fracture, as I'd feared, but just tendinitis.

The rash on my face is not a lupus rash, but something else for which my rheumy gave me steroid cream and eyelid scrub.

The hair loss is probably from the MTX, but I've been referred to a specialist, and  told to double my biotin dosage and add collagen to my supplements.

The worst thing of all, I have no way to spin into something good. My favorite cat has gone missing. He sleeps outside on the patio or in the garage. He has not been seen for 48 hours. We live in the suburbs, so there are no feral beasts that would get him. He is fast and cautious, very unlikely to be lured by a stranger with food. Rufus is not lying in the neighborhood roads, nor is he at the animal shelter.
I am afraid someone has trapped him, which makes me worried that someone is doing harm to that gentle soul. There is a neighbor I do not trust. I am trying hard to not think that, but this is the longest he's ever been gone. He disappears for a few hours now and then, but never like this.

I guess the only positive thing I can say is if he doesn't come home, we were lucky to have him as long as we did.

Sorry to hear that Rufus is missing.  I can understand your worrying for his welfare.   I do hope he shows up tonight with a sly grin on his little face.

I thought I might add my good thing while I am here.  My son and his wife are expecting their first baby some time in February.  A little boy!   ;D  My son is one proud Papa-to-be!

Brought in a Gardenia plant for the winter that my Son gave me for Mothers Day.
And we have a flower!
It just makes me smile every morning.. and the lovely scent.

I went outside last night and saw a crescent moon.. so bright and low.
" So would you like to swing on a star.. carry moon beams homes in a jar.."
I just wished for a moment I could touch it.. instead it touched me.

My week has not been a good one at all, but I do have one good thing to share.

Our computer crashed on Saturday (no, that's not the good thing) and was too old to fix, so I quickly did some research and we bought a new one Saturday evening.  It only took me a few hours to set it up because honestly they have made them idiot-proof these days even for me.  So now we have a brand new, fast computer with Windows 10.

Oh, and it was the brand new iPhone we bought on Friday that crashed the computer.

Too much new technology in this house for a poor old Sjoggie like me.  I am trying not to feel overwhelmed.

It is freezing cold, and very windy and snowy outside.  I was stuck in traffic for 60 minutes in what should be a 30 minutes drive.  The dreaded first snowfall of the season has arrived.  So what!  I just put a batch of rice pudding in the oven, and wait expectantly for the yummy goodness while the house warms up.  Yum!

Carebear, did you enjoy the rice pudding? It's one of my favourites too! We haven't had much snow yet but we have had lots of rain and very high winds - allegedly gales, but I'm not sure they were that bad.

Anyhow, hubby and I are having our ruby wedding Christmas week and we wlll be leaving London mid December to Hawaii via Los Angeles - we are getting very exciting, and will have to crack on with the packing soon.

Hope you are well.

Thank you for asking, Kathy!  I really did enjoy that rice pudding.  But this is the third batch this month, and I just can't seem to get it just right.  Of course that doesn't prevent us from gulping it down faster than the speed of light.

Two good things about today:

1.  Our hometown Edmonton Eskimos won the Grey Cup today!  Sorry to the Ottawa fans.  For those of you who are not Canadian, this is our version of the Super Bowl.

2.  We went to the movies this afternoon to watch the final installment of The Hunger Games series - Mockingjay Part 2. The theatre was one of those new fancy ones, with more room leg room, super comfortable seating, and a bigger screen.  Ate some candy, slurped on pop, and enjoyed a few hours of "Living life in spite of Sjogren's".

Tomorrow is my birthday so this will serve as my "cake".
